We are committed to preserving the global environment, which is essential for a healthy and cultured life, through “people-friendly and earth-friendly” corporate activities.

Environmental initiatives

Daiwabo Rayon classifies its involvement in the environment into three categories, and conducts business activities to realize a sustainable society.

1.Relationship between products and the environment

We contribute to the environment for disposal by using naturally occurring raw materials and by utilizing the characteristics of the products themselves.

Characteristics of environmentally friendly product (Biodegradability)

We are working to create environmentally friendly products that have a low environmental impact after disposal.

Life cycle of product

Wood pulp, the raw material of viscose rayon, is made from wood chips. The cellulose in the pulp is once turned into a solution and regenerated as fiber, which is mainly used for clothing and nonwoven around us. After disposal, it biodegrades in the soil and returns to nature, just like wood.

Carbon neutral cycle of viscose rayon

<About carbon neutrality>

“Carbon neutral” means that the amount of carbon dioxide emitted from the combustion and decomposition of plant-derived fuels and raw materials is equal to the amount of carbon dioxide absorbed by the plant in its growth process.
Viscose rayon meets the prerequisites for carbon neutrality because it is made from “wood pulp”, a plant-derived raw material.
We have set annual reduction targets for carbon dioxide emissions from our Masuda Mill, and are working to reduce the amount of CO2 emitted.
In addition, viscose rayon can be disposed of without incineration due to its “biodegradability,” thus reducing the amount of carbon dioxide emitted by incineration can be achieved.

2.Relationship between production and the environment

As part of our “efforts to prevent global warming”, we strictly control all wastewater discharged from our factory, and are “actively engaged in energy-saving activities”, such as saving electricity and reducing CO2 emissions.

3.Relationship between the society and the environment

We contribute to the society through our business activities.

Local contribution activities
In addition to environmental activities, we are also involved in a variety of other activities such as safety activities, employment activities, social event with local people, and participation in community events.

Approaches to safety activities

We have set monthly targets for the number of near-misses and risk assessments submitted, and are working to raise safety awareness.
